Omo Valley “the unique wilderness” – Southern Ethiopia

Hamar Girl - TurmiOmo Valley “the unique wilderness” – Southern Ethiopia
South Omo Valley region is a unique place for diversified ethnics with their untouched culture. Surma & Mursi (both ethnic’s women cut their lips to insert the clay plates as a sign of beauty), Bume and Konso, the Galeb (Dassenech), the Bodi, the Arbore, &the Hamer are major tribes, dwelling in southern Ethiopia. Lifestyles are as varied as the tribes themselves. Most Omo Valley tribes are experts on body painting, using clays and locally available vegetable pigments to trace fantastic patterns on each other’s faces, chests, arms, and legs. These designs are created purely for fun and aesthetic value, each artist vying to outdo her/his fellows.
Bull Jumping rituals being performed by Hamers- frequented between Septembers – November and at random time before/after the main rainy season (February – April). DONGA – stick fighting of the Surma ritual performed mostly in every September.
Hamar GirlBest Time to Travel Omo Valley
Mid December to mid-March, and July-September– is the best season to travel as it is a dry season. Even though roads are being upgraded nowadays; from November – mid December, and June – travelers to Omo Valley should be flexible on the itinerary since one day of rain can make the roads temporarily impossible. March to May is not recommended due to high rain season. Omo Valley Sample Tour prograns

Danakil Depression

Danakil Depression - Afar TribeDanakil Depression
Danakil/Dallol Depression: is the remotest, lowest and hottest place in the Great Rift Valley system. It is the most astonishing place, nowhere in the World but in Ethiopia – at north –east (Ethiopian Afar Region.) Tourists and I, Misganaw Alelign – Tour Operator and professional English and French Guide for Action Tours said together, at our presence physically there: “ This is the place where the earth breaths as we do!” Danakil Depression is an extraordinary event – no word, picture or filming equitable to explain about Danakil Depression. The only means to witness about it is being there physically! Anybody who has physical fitness to tolerate the unfriendly climate has to be recommended to explore the life time memory of the Danakil depression’s miraculous event. Staffs of Action Tours have visited the never regrettable site – Danakil Depression and its surroundings repeatedly! Action Tours – Ethiopia is looking forward to take you there as your agent in Ethiopia.
Despite high temperature, Danakil Depression can be visited at any time. Temperature is lower in Danakil Depression during November to March.
